Meet Jennifer
Hello, I'm so grateful you are here and taking the time to learn a little about me!
I am a registered social worker and mental health clinician who has worked in diverse mental health settings the past 20 years. Accessing counselling helps us navigate trauma, learn new coping skills, examine our relationships, work towards self-acceptance, adapt to life transitions and change how we see ourselves. I have been on both sides of the counselling relationship to experience the transformation that happens when we create space to work on ourselves.
I use an integrative approach drawing on; mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, compassionate inquiry, DBT, CBT, narrative therapy and harm reduction. My practice is grounded in compassion, empathy, curiosity and relationship. My hope is to create a safe space that provides clarity, instills hope and encourages bravery.

I specialize in supporting people with anxiety, depression, severe mental illness, chronic suicidal thoughts, substance use, gender and sexuality exploration, life transitions, grief and loss. I also support friends and family of people navigating mental health or substance use issues to provide perspective, education and support to create healthy boundaries. I also work with couples and families to facilitate hard conversations, cultivate connection and create shared goals.

Outside of this space, I work as an instructor at Selkirk College and specialize in teaching about mental health and addictions. This experience, in addition to my group facilitation experience, has given me tools I can use to develop effective staff training and education tailored to the needs of your organization and your clients.
